Two Porcupines Seen at Winter Wildlife Hike

By February 5, 2018 No Comments

Special thanks to Mike LeValley from Isabella Conservation District for leading an educational hike through Halls Lake Natural Area. While the preserve was fairly quiet in terms of wildlife activity, we still managed to see two porcupines in two different trees. There was little snow on the ground due to a recent winter warming, but we still saw tracks from squirrels, deer and possibly a fox or coyote. Upper 20-degree temperatures were perfect for a winter stroll through the 160-acre permanently protected area. View the slideshow below for photos of the hike, all shot by Conservancy board member Stan Lilley.
