Summer Membership Campaign Aims to Grow Support for Conservancy

By June 19, 2018 No Comments

From June 15th, 2018 through July 15th, 2018 Chippewa Watershed Conservancy (CWC) will be actively soliciting new members. There are many benefits to becoming a member of CWC. You’ll get a copy of our newsletter three times annually, invitations to special events and a variety of discounts at local businesses such as Buckley’s Mountainside Canoes, Chippewa River Outfitters, Motorless Motion and Max and Emily’s.

But more importantly, members are the driving force behind our success as a small conservation organization that has permanently protected over 5,300 acres of critical wildlife habitat, natural space and quiet places to explore. These places preserve air and water quality, provide a setting for outdoor recreational opportunities and protect habitat for hundreds of wildlife species. Over two-thirds of our annual budget comes from a collection of contributions from individuals just like you.

CWC is a nonprofit land conservancy whose mission is to protect wildlife habitat and open space in the counties of the Chippewa River Watershed. Based out of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, our service area includes Clare, Gratiot, Isabella, Mecosta and Montcalm Counties. To date, we own 22 nature preserves that total over 600 acres. These sublime natural areas, which include over six miles of trails are open to the public for passive recreation such as hiking, bird watching, fishing and more. We also maintain 39 conservation easements which are legally-binding protections on private lands that help families permanently protect their properties for myriad conservation values.
