CANCELLED Invasive Species Removal Work Session @ Williams-Blackburn Preserve CANCELLED

April 14, 2022 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

THE INVASIVE SPECIES REMOVAL WORK SESSION AT WILLIAMS-BLACKBURN PRESERVE SCHEDULED FOR TOMORROW (APRIL 14TH) IS BEING CANCELLED DUE TO HIGH WINDS CREATING DANGEROUS CONDITIONS.
Join us at 5:30PM on the last three Thursdays in April (April 14th, 21st, and 28th) at Williams-Blackburn Preserve for our first weekly invasive species work sessions of 2022.
The main focus of these sessions will be the removal of autumn olive (an invasive shrub) with a secondary focus on non-native honeysuckles and Japanese barberry.
These three introduced shrubs spread prolifically and crowd out native vegetation. Removal of these plants will hopefully lead to increased diversity of native species. In addition, removal of the densest stands of autumn olive will open up the understory and allow for the construction of trail in the future..
We provide all necessary equipment – all you have to do is show up ready to work.
