Executive Director Stan Lilley reported that the CWC has been awarded a three-year, $120,000 operational support grant by the Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow Foundation of Midland, Michigan.

The Dow Foundation will provide $40,000 per year to the Conservancy to help carry out core mission activities in our five-county service area in central Michigan.

Lilley stated, “We are thrilled to receive this grant in these difficult economic times. This is a continuation of our partnership with the Herbert and Grace Dow Foundation begun in 2007.”

“This grant represents a substantial contribution to our annual operating budget. It will go a long way toward helping us to continue to serve the people of our area as we work to ensure important lands are preserved for the benefit of future generations,” Lilley said.

The Conservancy works with willing landowners to help preserve family legacies by protecting important natural space through conservation easements while allowing for private ownership of the land, and also acquires some parcels of land as preserves that protect habitat and allow for public recreation.

“We are grateful to the Herbert and Grace Dow Foundation for their reaffirmation of support to our mission,” stated Lilley.
